An Art and Design course should encourage personal expression, imagination, sensitivity, conceptual thinking, and powers of observation.  Participants are encouraged to work from direct observation and to explore the use of tone, colour and composition, materials and context. This can be shown through the use of processes and use of media such as charcoal, pencil, pastels, acrylic, water colour, oil and inks.

1- Portfolio Preparation

• The participant will develop the ability to record from direct observation and personal experience.
• The participant will develop imaginative, creative and personal response.
• The participant will develop investigative, analytical, experimental, interpretative, practical, technical and expressive skills which aid effective and independent learning.

2- Painting and Related Media

• This course concentrates on drawing techniques and using oil colours where the participants will work on three projects concerning landscapes, still life and Abstract notions of feeling.
